Enrollment in the Christmas Box Program for 2011

The Old Newsboys of Flint’s Christmas Box Program is designed to help Children who might otherwise go without gifts.

  

SIGN UP SCHEDULE

October 31, 2011 -- December 16, 2011
Monday through Friday
8:30 AM -- 4:45 PM

 Children from birth to age 18 (if still in school) may be eligible. To qualify for the program, the parent or legal guardian must:

-- Come to the Old Newsboys office (Far right door on the north side of the building) during the scheduled enrollment weeks and hours. We can't take telephone or email applications.
-- Bring Parent or legal guardian’s Drivers License or State ID
-- Bring Parent or legal guardian’s Social Security card.
-- Bring Michigan Medicaid card for each child/ approved eligibility documentation* demonstrating eligibility.
-- Bring Birth Certificates or Judgments of Legal Custody for each child

 When you arrive...

-- Intake and enrollment entrance is the farthest east door on the north side of the building.
-- All above listed paper work must be provided for sign-up even if your children have received gifts from the  Old Newsboys in the past.
-- Parents or guardians may be turned away if they are under the influence of alcohol/drugs or are loud or abusive with the Old Newsboys’ staff.
-- You may not sign up for more than one (similar service) agency during the holidays. The Old Newsboys is in a service pool with 11 local holiday package providers. If you appear on one of the lists from another agency, you will be required to obtain a letter of release from that agency.

* Eligibility Documentation for children not receiving Medicaid:

-- Parents or legal guardian’s 2010 income tax return verifying low income—the chart below outlines the federal government’s guidelines. Your family's earnings must be at or below "Low Income" to qualify.
-- Reduced /free lunch acceptance letter from the child’s school
-- A check stub with your year-to-date income demonstrating low income status
-- Occasionally special circumstances occur, these include a written notification of recent job loss, hospital bills, fire report, etc. Call the Old Newsboys office at 810.744.1840 to find out if your special circumstances qualify your children for the program.
